Latest news about the Bergen Light Rail

Hello!

Lately there has been big discussion about where or which way the Bergen Light Rail is going to Åsane. But last week they finally came with a solution. Last week, the members of Høyre, who are a part of the city council, unanimously decided that they would vote for an expansion of the Bergen Light Rail through a tunnel from Kjøttbasaren to Slakterhustomten.

17th of June the Bergen city council are going to have extraordinary meeting to discuss the layout of the track. Picture: The orange line is the new suggestion. The blue line was the earlier suggestion, but it was outvoted by the citizens of Bergen because of Bryggen.

A Visit Form Germany

This week we had a lot of fun with the German students form HHS in Hamburg. We visited many different places in Bergen, which also has been a good experience for us in Bergen.  My group took Bybanen form the city centre to Lagunen on the way we visited “Bystasjonen”,”Florida”,”Sletten”,”Fantoft” and ”Nesttun”. We learned that all these stations on the light rail is planned very well and that there are many reasons for their positions like schools, work places and of course housing.

The other Excursion day (Wednesday) we took the bus to Åsane. First we had a walk in the city to look at the building and architecture. We also saw one of Bergen´s most famous tourist attraction “Bryggen” here we presented one of the most discussed questions at the moment: Should the light rail go over “Bryggen”? Than we took the bus to Åsane where we looked at some more buildings. Like IKEA and the “EXPERT” building. Which both are very special for Bergen.

On Thursday the German students got a taste of typical Norwegian culture, mountain trip. They went up the mountain “Ulriken” which is the highest mountain in Bergen, so is can be challenging to walk up but the German students managed. They came home on Friday afternoon, and then we all were tired and ready for the weekend.

In the weekend we all got together and had a lot of fun. On Sunday all the girls had a movies night, which were vey cozy.

On Monday we started to write our reports, which included the time we were in Hamburg.

Since the last time we spoke, we have changed our groups a little bit. Lars-Otto had to switch groups, but Victoria, Isa and Marita are still in the same group. In addition we have gotten two new group members, Madeleine and Rano.

Today we have answered some questions about the project. We also spoke on Skype with our friends in Hamburg and we discussed what our goal with the project is, and we came to some conclusions.

19/10-12

Hi!

Today we worked with the design on our blog.
We chose a beautiful picture of nature as the background, and changed the colour of the headline from black to green, because you know, green traffic!

We also made a better-looking design, and made it much more perspicious.

The achievements Bybanen wants to accomplish

Hello!!

Today we had a heated discussion of how we want the development of Bybanen to be. We talked about the advantages and draw backs of this.

This is what Bybanen wants to achieve:
- We want to keep the growth of traffic as low as possible.
- We want the biggest part of the growth of traffic to be public transport.
- The amount of trafical accidents will be redused.
- The strain of the environment from the traffic will be redused.
- City centre will be protected from unwanted traffic pressure.
- There will be established a connected pavement and bikeroad running along Bybanen.

15/10-12

Hello!

Today we got your letters about yourself, and we are getting more and more excited to meet you!

We also talked about politics and how important it is. For example: democracy and dictatorship and the differences between these two.

New blog!

Hello!

Now we have finally settled to blogspot.com and this is where we will blog from.

28/09-12 we had a whole day with natural science and we worked with our mind-map.

Here are the subjects "Bybanen", public transport, climate change, EL-cars and boats in the port at Bryggen.

We are still (green)living!

Hello!
Today we are going to work with green traffic in natural science. We are going to look into topics like the greenhouse effect and hydrogen as an energy carrier. On friday ( 28/09-12) we have natural science all day, so then we will work a lot with this and probably get some new and good information.

14/09-12

HELLO!

Today we chose our task which was traffic. We chose a leader (Lars Otto), a blogleader (Isa), a secritary (Victoria) and a timepusher and moodspreader (Marita).
We started right away with keywords and everyone was excited and came with great ideas. The ideas and keywords were put in a well organized mind map by Victoria.
We also came up with a problem statement. "What responsibility do the traffic cause the climate in Bergen?"
Here are examples of topics we are going to present:  Public transport like  "Bybanen" which is a light train, discussions about a closure of a parking house, air pollution caused by traffic and bicycles and paths for the cyclists.

We are all very happy with the group and the moral is good!

Welcome
